Michael J. Sundman (MBA), Associate Partner
Mike Sundman has a corporate background in three industries during times of turmoil.
As Director Business Development at Seagram International he helped plan and execute “bolt-on” acquisitions and divestitures in consumer products across Europe. The new critical mass improved bargaining power with major retail chains leading to growth and better profitability.
As Head of Business Development for Ciba-Geigy Pharmaceuticals (now Novartis) he helped establish the first dozen alliances with biotechnology companies. He led numerous strategic projects for top management, including multiple acquisition assessments. He also was responsible for the first strategic investments in venture capital funds.
As Senior Vice President of Corporate Development at Bâloise Insurance he led divestitures of non-core businesses with combined sales volume of 1.5 billion Swiss Francs. He was on the Investor Relations team with the CEO and CFO. Thanks in part to the new focus strategy the company’s market capitalization tripled in 2 years.
Since 1999 via Sundman Business Development GmbH he has been providing corporate development services to smaller companies primarily in healthcare. He has a BA from Columbia University and an MBA (Finance) from New York University. He works in English, German and French.
